FAQs

Frequently asked questions about clinical hypnotherapy.

Please contact Laura should you have any further questions.

Why use Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a powerful, drug free alternative and non-invasive approach to addressing challenges you may be experiencing. It works by accessing the subconscious mind and when placed into a trance like state we can begin to work together on any of you concerns.

Once guided into a hypnotic state it is here you will be able to shut out any exterior awareness and be more susceptible to ideas of change given to you. The mind in this state will also be open to deleting old habits and negative processes you may be holding onto and create new ones.

It is important to note that Hypnotism only works when the therapist and client work in conjunction with one another. You will be encouraged to listen to recordings of your sessions and commit to the sessions. By working together you will expect results from your sessions.

What are the benefits of hypnotherapy?

The benefits are endless in how it can help you. Support with cessation habits, addressing relationship concerns, increase confidence, insomnia, anxiety, generalised depression, nail biting, weight loss to name a few!

How many sessions are normally required?

4 – 8 sessions are generally recommended. I design sessions based on your unique needs and will review as needed. Often other issues can arise as treatment is provided and therefore your plan may need to be amended.

Will I lose control through the hypnosis session?

The issue of control is one that many are concerned for. The reality is that for an effective hypnosis session the client is needed to be 100% committed to the process. Without your cooperation it will be difficult to effectively place you in trance state.

Can anyone be hypnotised?

Yes. It will only need you to come with an open mind and willingness to participate in the process.

* a full medical and mental health history will be requested at the intake stage to assess if hypnotherapy is suitable for you.

Are there any side effects?

No. You will be either in my clinic in a supported safe space, or at home (if taking online sessions) and therefore in the safety of a space of your choosing.

Hypnotherapy is non-invasive and you should not experience any side-effects.
